Raquel's double pregnancy - Lilly Commission by somethingelse77 Raquel's double pregnancy - Lilly Commission by somethingelse77
Raquel Goldstein (maiden adopted name: Maldovar, birth name Yuliya Zveretsyn) is finally starting to show!  Twice!  It seems that both of her wombs are pregnant.  She just got back from the ultrasound--she and her husband were quite concerned to say the least.   There appear to be twins on her right and a solo on the left.  Two boys, and a girl.  All appear to be healthy and normal... so far.

Commissioned from Lilly-moo for Mayternity--because you never see enough pregnant tripods around here.

-----------

Very brief bio (sorry if its a bit sappy--it was written awhile ago; point is she exists outside the canon my other OOCs do.  operating question was:  'how the hell could a three-legged girl come about and live in the real world?')

The purpose of Raquel as a character is to model and depict in a plausible fashion a young woman blessed (or cursed) with
multi (three legs, three breasts, six fingers, and polythelia), born and raised in the real world (i wish).  My reasoning is that beautiful symmetric multi is physically impossible--the entire genre is based off fantasy afterall--but I am interested in the literary value of tragic realism to build viable, and meaningful fiction.  Of course the advances of modern surgery means that most of her 'extra' features could be rectified; although I have taken liberties to explain why that did not happen here (she would never do it; this is who she is.)

That means that there are no other "mutant race", magic, or transformation.  Raquel's unique condition of dipygus tripus, triarchic polymastia, polydactyly, polythelia/benign melanoma, minor esostrabismus, and some mild chronic stammering is of course due to a congenital genetic mutation--in this case brought on by prenatal environmental radiation exposure.  She is sadly a Ukrainian Chernobyl victim adopted in her first year by a Latino-American family.  That is inspired by several young women, very pretty in face intelligent and adopted, whose phocomelia/dwarfism is directly due to that disaster; so its not entirely implausible.  That's a lot to take in but she is actually much less outlandish than most my OOCs.  The polythelia and  benign melanoma might be unsightly but she is lucky not to have a clubbed fet or legs.  The polythelia seems a logical byproduct if one ever had a third breast in the traditional middle fashion.   Raquel has it harder than most, but that's why I think she's so fascinating--especially since she's in many ways more successful at life than most.

About ten years ago I debated a story concept concerning a double belly but never got around to drawing it. Starred brainstorming again over the last few days and found this art gem.

Nice job!

A woman who is unaware that she has a double womb until her bellies start to grow out from pregnancy. How she deals with it. I actually may make one set in the X-men universe.

Ah, so this was the other OC you hinted at, very creative! Interesting backstory and I'd say she's been blessed... well, until that day at least...
